On the Application and Effectiveness of “EZ Talk” as a Supplemental Learning Aid to “English Listening and Speaking Course”

[[abstract]]“EZ Talk,” as designed by the International Language Corner of Asia University (ILCAU), is the most popular and frequently participated in activity on campus for situational communication learning practices in English. Many instructors have begun to try integrating this activity into their English teaching syllabus in various ways. There are two research purposes for the present study. One was to investigate the students’ learning preferences, difficulties, and effectiveness derived from participating in “EZ Talk” through a questionnaire survey method. The other was to explore if students’ frequency of attendance to “EZ Talk” bettered their ability in listening and speaking. Based upon the findings, the present study hopes to promote the idea of supplementing “EZ Talk” with other related academic English courses. By connecting the extracurricular learning activity with English language skills learned from the classroom, a higher learning effectiveness for the language will be achieved
